Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today!

Happy Thanksgiving from Canada, to all my American friends who celebrate a month late!
Happy Thanksgiving from Europe, where there is no celebrating at all, besides among the society of Turkeys perhaps...
I'm originally from England, where at this time of year we had Harvest Festival, a lovely church service where we took offerings of vegetables to church that our school was associated with. There were definitely some older, pagan undertones. Is there nothing like that where you are? I thought that was something that, in one form or another, stretched right across Europe.
Of course you're right, if you're walking down the scientific lane. We got one of a similar name and message in October, but around the current days of the calendar there are religious holidays depending on confession... as you said... pagan stuff.
I was refering to the pomp, commercial American style. After importing the U.S.-style of celebrating for Halloween over the past decades, I'm pretty sure its only a matter of time 'til we will enjoy the "True American Way"® of Thanksgiving as well! 😉
@kid-khan I was talking to my granddaughter about this sort of thing today. In England, November 5 is, or was, Guy Fawkes day, but my understanding is that in many parts of the country, it's giving way to Halloween celebrations which were a traditional observance in early times but were unknown when I was a kid.
Thanksgiving is also not a thing down in South Africa and nothing similar around this time.
