Ideally, the game should already be set up and configured first. Then we can share a single link, post it, and direct any remaining players straight to the game so they can join on their own. We can also reserve spots in advance for the folks who already selected a race here, by passing their info along to Matthias so he can get them set up in AutoTroll before making the link public.

How does that sound?

That sounds like an excellent plan. Do you have registered email addresses for the players that have already signed back up to the site?

I don’t have a list I can quickly pull to do that. And even if I did, I can’t send invites the way they used to go out. My ISP (Verizon) blocks SMTP on port 25, which is what AutoTroll relies on, and it’s an older setup.

@hawkeye - You gotta get the word out. Share the game post and let the masses know you're trying to get an old school VGAP game going. In fact I'll make a new post... What do you have? 6 our of 11 players so far? How many do you want to get in there to start it?

There in lies the issue - I only have email addresses for a handful of players and I've already let them know. What we really need is an email to go out to the entire CM community from the past, but how do we achieve that? Ideally 8 players to make a start, and of those, I don't have everyone's email addresses.

I hear you. That's pretty much what killed the original site. That and changing ISP's to one that blocks SMTP port 25 which is all AutoTroll works on. I can't tell you how much time it used to consume, even when it was running smoothly. Plus I had been hosting for 10 years. I needed a break. I do miss it though and that's why I eventually redid the site. At the very least it can function as a hub for the community.

Glad to be back. R/L came up took away most of my playtime. When R/L settled down, I found other games. I found my old 3 1/2 in disks and the light bulb came on in my head. I have a little work to do before starting to play, like setup VMware, re-read about the races and ships ... Then I need to find host (s) with games to play.

Happy New Year Cherek! Glad to see you. I wondered what had happened to you back before the old site went into hibernation 7-8 years ago... You had gone silent there towards the end.
